MosaiCanada 150: Canada’s Heritage in Topiaries

Jacque Cartier Park in Gatineau, Quebec is located across Ottawa River, about 10 minutes drive from Ottawa’s Parliament Hill. It is well known in Ottawa Capital Region as the heart of Ottawa’s Winterlude. During the two weeks each February, it draws in visitors from all over the world to admire gigantic snow sculptures, family size snow slides, and to enjoy lots of family entertainment featuring Canada’s heritage and culture.

As of this year, however, Jacque Cartier Park will be sure to attract great crowds during the summers as well.

The Topiaries

MosaiCanada 150 is a beautiful display of topiaries that represent each of Canada’s provinces and territories and pay tribute to Canada’s colonization, immigration, and heritage and culture. It is impossible to describe the sizes and the beauty of these wonderfully crafted masterpieces. And even this photo story is unable to do it’s justice. But hopefully, it will entice you enough to motivate you to plan your next vacation in Canada’s capital region!

Even though, this wonderful display is now over, the government has already committed two million dollar’s to next year’s display. I can’t wait to see, what amazing, ever-growing wonders they will showcase next summer…

Until you come to Ottawa next summer, take a peak at the the topiaries displayed this year.

It’s great to visit all the wonderful outdoor attractions during the summer. If you’re visiting Ottawa during the colder months, you can always check out the outdoors in an indoor setting. And  Canadian Museum of Nature is a perfect place to do just that!

  1. Does that park remain green all year round? I’m a long-term traveler and I’m currently in Manitoba. I would love to visit Ottawa or Vancouver in January (once I’ve had enough of the harsh winters of the Midwest. 😀

    • It was supposed to be a one-year event for Canada 150, but it was so popular, that they already committed 2 million dollars for next year’s displays 🙂

  3. The topiaries are utterly epic, the scale and level of detail is just amazing. Would love to visit them, shall have to consider a return to Ottawa for this, I loved the city itself when I visited last year.
